Here’s a video from last night’s Saskatchewan show; really glad I finally made it out to one. Also, if you think you’ve heard “Nice Daze” before, woah will you be completely blown away when you soak it in live. For now, I’ve got an unfortunately dark video of “Death & Taxes” above, making me really want to push for a much more serious video series, but until I meet someone with proper equipment, please try to enjoy the amateur attempts above & on my Vimeo account.

Ooh, Orlando, thanks for being there for me when I was at a loss for a local music scene up here in Jacksonville. Something Meaningful, the work of Dave Plankon from an Orlando favorite, Saskatchewan, takes root into a dream’d out—loop’d back—pop sound digging its way through shoegaze influences all over. Besides being a huge crazypants on SNL way back when, Sinead O’Connor made some fucking brilliant music. I think we tend to forget that but I guess when you pull a huge live tv stunt of tearing a picture of the pope and as a result get banned from ever returning to SNL (this totally topped Ashlee Simpson’s “oops you caught me, I’m a lip syncer” jig lol) people forget your actual amazing artistry. So let’s focus on that. And let me say I could listen to Mandinka or Nothing Compares 2 You like all the time. And one of my favorite new Bandcamp discoveries, Something Meaningful does oh such glorious things with “Nothing Compares 2 You.” Seriously this is a MUST listen! If you fall hard for this cover too it can be downloaded for free over at Bandcamp! It’s a bit Active Child meets Coldplay meets Washed Out, ahhhhhh I love it! And while there I highly recommend also checking out the Something Meaningful EP!!!!! It’s also totes delightful as fuck.
